Muscat – Chaired by His Excellency Eng. Masoud bin Said Al Hashimi, Governor of South Al Batinah, the meeting focused on key aspects including road routes, water supply, and the development of sustainable tourism offerings such as guest houses and mountain trails.

Situated at an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level and located about 150 kilometres from Muscat, Wakan Village long been recognised for its natural beauty and scenic landscapes. Its stunning views and unique features have made it an increasingly popular tourist destination. However, the challenging access, which requires four-wheel-drive vehicles to navigate the winding valleys, has been a barrier to many potential visitors.

The development initiatives discussed at the meeting are part of a broader effort to enhance the village’s tourism infrastructure and make it more accessible. Key plans include the construction of well-maintained road routes, improvements in water supplies, and the establishment of hospitality facilities such as guest houses.

The committee is also working to develop mountain trails that will allow visitors to explore the breathtaking natural surroundings.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Saleh Al Busaidi, Wali of Nakhal, and several other officials from various governmental and private entities involved in the development of Wakan Village.
