MUSCAT : As tensions escalate in the region, Oman continues to advocate for a just and comprehensive peace that respects the legitimate rights of Palestinians to establish an independent state on their land.
Oman is participating in the extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo, which will commence today, March 4, and address recent developments surrounding the Palestinian issue. This summit aims to formulate a unified Arab position against Israel’s plans to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza and other occupied territories.

In an official statement to the Oman News Agency, His Excellency Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Ambassador of Oman and its Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, stressed that the Palestinian cause transcends regional politics, being rooted in fundamental human rights and international law. The Sultanate of Oman believes that the Palestinian cause is not just an Arab cause, but a just humanitarian cause linked to the principles of international law and international legitimacy, he pointed out.

Oman has affirmed in all international and regional forums its full support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state – based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, which must be respected in line with United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. Oman categorically rejects any efforts to change the status quo in Palestinian territories through settlements, blockades, or forced displacements, warning that such actions only exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people and threaten regional stability.

The summit holds significant importance, as it comes at a critical time for the Palestinian cause, which is facing increasing efforts at liquidation through coercive solutions and escalating Israeli policies. The Sultanate of Oman hopes the summit will yield decisive and united decisions, strengthening Arab diplomatic efforts to confront the current challenges facing the Palestinian people.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Saeed Abu Ali, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories, also spoke on the gravity of the summit. He stressed the extraordinary nature of the event, noting that the proposal to displace Gaza’s population as a condition for reconstruction had been met with firm rejection by Arab capitals.
