Oman’s fisheries ministry suspends new retail fish store licenses

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources has issued Ministerial Resolution No. 41/2025, temporarily suspending the acceptance of applications for licensing the retail sale of fish, seafood, and related products.

MUSCAT : This decision, effective for one year, is based on the provisions of the Aquatic Living Resources Law, as established by Royal Decree 20/2019, and the subsequent amendments in Royal Decree No. 92/2020. The resolution also aligns with the Executive Regulations of the Marine Fishing and Protection of Living Aquatic Resources Law, as set forth in Ministerial Resolution No. 4/94.

In accordance with public interest requirements, Article 1 of the Ministerial Resolution outlines the temporary halt in licensing applications for seafood retail stores. Article 2 stipulates that the decision will be published in the Official Gazette and will take effect the day following its publication.
