MUSCAT : As part of efforts to achieve the goals of the National Digital Economy Program, the project is a key strategic initiative, aiming to provide accurate data to guide decision-makers in shaping Oman’s digital future.

It aligns with the national goal of raising the digital economy’s contribution to 10% of GDP by 2040, while also supporting economic studies, international comparisons, and research in this rapidly evolving sector.

The survey focuses on private sector establishments engaged in:

Communications and IT activities
Financial and insurance services provided digitally
A sample of 1,300 establishments from various governorates has been selected, covering businesses of all sizes—large, medium, small, and micro.

The study will generate critical economic indicators, including:

Percentage of the digital economy’s contribution to GDP
Added value of IT and digital financial services
Employment trends and salary expenditures
Operational and transformation expenses
Investment in assets and capital formation

Hamad bin Nasser Al-Shikaili, Director of the Survey Project, emphasized the crucial role of cooperation from businesses in ensuring accurate data collection. He praised the positive response from establishments, which has accelerated data gathering and enhanced the survey’s quality.
