Omani-Uzbek Business Forum strengthens trade and women entrepreneurship

The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) hosted the Omani-Uzbek Business Forum, an event aimed at enhancing trade and investment exchanges between Oman and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

MUSCAT : Held at the OCCI headquarters, the forum explored export and import opportunities, with a special focus on women’s entrepreneurship.

The event took place alongside a visit by a high-profile delegation of Uzbek businesswomen, led by Nadira Shah Tarsunova, Vice President of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce. The delegation, comprising 20 Uzbek business leaders, represented key sectors such as real estate, design, electrical engineering, textiles, private education, medicine, and trade.

His Excellency Abdul Salam Khatimov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Oman, emphasized that the forum marks a significant step toward deepening economic and trade ties between the two nations. He highlighted the importance of women entrepreneurs in driving innovation and economic growth, noting that the platform allows businesswomen from both countries to connect, exchange expertise, and form lasting partnerships.

Suhaim bint Ahmed Al Harthi, Board Member of OCCI and Head of the Tourism Committee, noted that this is the first-ever Omani-Uzbek Business Forum, making it a milestone event in bilateral cooperation. She emphasized the forum’s role in fostering opportunities across various industries.

Arej bint Mohsen Al Zaabi, Board Member of OCCI, stressed the Chamber’s commitment to supporting businesswomen in both nations. She reaffirmed that Oman’s Businesswomen Committee aims to empower female entrepreneurs and strengthen their role in shaping the private sector economy.

The forum covered a range of topics, including:

Investment incentives in Oman and government-provided facilities for foreign investors

Trade opportunities in key economic sectors

Economic, tourism, and cultural cooperation prospects

Knowledge-sharing and strengthening business partnerships

On the sidelines of the forum, bilateral meetings were held between Omani and Uzbek businessmen and women, fostering cooperation, trade relations, and investment exploration.

Additionally, an exhibition of Omani products showcased handmade and heritage items, including traditional Omani fashion, perfumes, food products, and handicrafts, offering a glimpse into the rich culture and craftsmanship of Omani businesswomen.
