MUSCAT : The company also revealed an Omanization initiative, providing 885 jobs in the water sector, increasing local workforce participation to 84%.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held on Tuesday under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
Speaking at the event, Qais bin Saud Al Zakwani, CEO of Nama Water Services, outlined the company’s strategy to enhance the water and sanitation network across Oman. 27 key projects are currently in progress, aiming to expand the coverage of water networks beyond 72.8%, benefiting over 937,970 subscribers.

Among the major strategic projects are:
Sohar to Al Dhahirah Water Transfer Project (230 km pipeline)
Barka-Sohar Water System Enhancement Project (140 km pipeline)
Al Dakhiliyah Water Transfer System Enhancement (173 km pipeline)
South-North Al Sharqiyah Water Transfer Project (312 km pipeline)
The CEO emphasized that Nama Water Services upholds the highest quality standards, with water quality compliance reaching 99.22%. Additionally, the company is aligning its efforts with Oman’s 2050 Net Zero Carbon strategy and the Oman 2040 Vision, prioritizing environmental sustainability.
Nama Water Services launched an Omanization initiative to provide permanent employment in companies supporting its operations. The initiative has already increased Omanization rates from 55% to 84% in these companies.

Implemented in two phases, with the first batch announced in December 2024, and the second batch to follow soon
The initiative, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, aims to equip Omanis with technical skills and create sustainable employment opportunities in the water sector.
At the closing of the ceremony, Nama Water Services signed four major agreements to further strengthen Oman’s water infrastructure:
Gulfar Company – Water distribution networks for Ibri, Yanqul, and Dhank (Package 1)
Egyptian Contracting Company – Water networks for Ibri, Yanqul, and Dhank (Package 2)
Honna International Industries – Water networks for Samayil and Izki
Target Company – Sewage networks in Al Ansab (Package B7D)
