Muscat – The court had ruled the case to be outside its jurisdiction, but the company’s board of directors has now opted to challenge this decision.

The move was disclosed on February 20, 2025, following an initial update on January 28, 2025, where Oman Fisheries first reported the court’s dismissal of the lawsuit.

“The board of directors has decided on the 20th of February 2025 to appeal the referred to judgement, and directed the company’s attorney to take the necessary measures in this regard,” the company stated.

It may be recalled that Oman Fisheries, in a previous disclosure in March 2023, had announced the filing of legal action against some former members of its executive management due to violations related to unfair competition and breaches of laws governing executive conduct.

The company claimed the violations involved the Commercial Companies Law, Labour Law, Industrial Property Rights Law, Trade Law, and rules concerning good credit during their tenure. The company emphasized that the lawsuit was filed to protect shareholders’ interests and recover damages, should the case be successful.

“Such legal proceedings were taken due to reasons relating to violations of the provisions of fair and legitimate competition and the provisions regulating the work of executive management disclosed in the Omani Commercial Companies Law as well as the Business Code of Conduct during the period of their employment,” the company had stated.
