Muscat: Education remains a national priority, with 53,610 teachers serving in government schools across the Sultanate. The private education sector employs 6,867 teachers, while international (foreign community) schools have 86 teachers, and special education schools account for 205 educators.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has underscored the pivotal role of teachers, ensuring that modern teaching tools, technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI) are integrated into classrooms. His Majesty reaffirmed this vision during his visit to Sultan Faisal bin Turki School for Boys in Al Amerat, where he engaged with educators and students, emphasizing the need for cutting-edge educational facilities built in recent years.

Highlighting the necessity of adapting curricula to global advancements, His Excellency Jamal bin Ahmed Al-Abri, Chairman of the Education, Scientific Research and Innovation Committee at the Shura Council, stressed that modernizing education plans is essential in today’s rapidly changing world.

With AI and modern technologies transforming industries, curricula must evolve to equip students with the right skills for the future job market, he emphasized. He added that flexible and forward-thinking educational strategies will enable students to navigate technological advancements, social shifts, and lifelong learning.

Teachers from various schools and universities also poured in their support and joy ahead of Omani Teachers’ Day, emphasizing the keenness of His Majesty to shape the future generation and how the schools across the nation are evolving to innovate and adapt for the future.
