Muscat: As part of its ongoing efforts to empower youth and enhance their skills and competencies, as well as its commitment to equipping them for meaningful contributions to national development across various fields and sectors, and in alignment with its social responsibility initiatives, the Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) has welcomed the first batch of interns for this year. This group consists of 21 students from different higher education institutions across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, participating in the company’s Winter Training Program. The program commenced on Sunday, February 16, 2025, and will run for two consecutive months. During this period, students will undergo intensive training experience in various work fields relevant to their academic disciplines. The program aims to develop highly qualified talents who are well-prepared to compete in the job market, in line with technological advancements and national aspirations, while meeting the demands of the Omani labor market.

Mubarak Al-Jahwari, General Manager of Human Resources at OETC, emphasized the company’s dedication to community service and collaboration with various institutions and sectors to ensure progress and development in alignment with national strategies and objectives. He highlighted that these training programs reflect the company’s strong belief in the importance of transferring knowledge and expertise to the younger generation, thereby strengthening their capabilities and ensuring their readiness to contribute effectively to the country’s comprehensive development journey.

Al-Jahwari added: “OETC is committed to supporting the Omani community through various initiatives, programs, and projects. We prioritize diversity in our initiatives to reach different target groups. This is evident in the various projects we have successfully implemented over the years. The biannual training programs we conduct for higher education students across the Sultanate are among our most significant initiatives aimed at empowering youth and providing them with growth opportunities. These programs are designed to transfer expertise and knowledge, ensuring that they are well-prepared to shape Oman’s future in line with national visions and aspirations.”

It is worth mentioning that OETC, a member of Nama Group, is the only company responsible for the transmission and control of electricity across the Sultanate’s network. The electricity is transmitted from production stations to distributed load centers in the governorates. The transmission network operates at a voltage of 132kV and above to cover most of the governorates in the Sultanate, whether in the north or the south. Furthermore, OETC manages the interconnection lines between Oman and the GCC interconnection network, which operates at a voltage of 220kV.
