Oman hosts first-ever conference on psychiatric emergency medicine

Al Masarra Hospital, in collaboration with the Higher Institute for Health Specialties, organized Oman’s first-ever conference on psychiatric emergency medicine.

MUSCAT : The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saeed bin Hareb Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs.

The conference aimed to enhance the understanding of psychiatric emergencies, with a focus on suicide prevention among adolescents, crisis response strategies, and the impact of drug overdoses on mental health care systems. Experts also highlighted the role of lean management approaches in improving the initial assessment and treatment of psychiatric patients.

Evidence-based psychiatric practices to enhance care quality

Speaking at the event, Dr. Badr bin Ali Al Habsi, Director of Al Masarra Hospital, emphasized that mental health is no longer a secondary issue but a fundamental pillar of Oman’s healthcare system.
