MUSCAT : The CPA highlighted the deceptive practices employed by some advertisers, warning that such promotions may not always be as they seem.
According to the CPA, misleading advertisements take several forms, and it is important for consumers to recognize them to avoid being misled. The following are the most common types:
- False Advertisements: These provide incorrect or misleading information about a product or service.
- Deceptive Advertisements: These ads use distorted perceptions of a product or service to attract customers.
- Fear-based Advertisements: They aim to create fear among consumers to force them into buying the product oг service.
- Fake Testimonials Advertisements: They use false testimonials from non-existent people to convince consumers of the product or service’s quality.
