Muscat – Starting from June 1, 2025, the OTA will not permit import of soft drinks, energy drinks, and other excise products (excluding sweet drinks) unless they bear the required Digital Tax Stamp.
The announcement is part of the third phase of the DTS implementation plan, aimed at improving transparency and compliance within the country’s excise tax system. Importers are urged to ensure that their products are in full compliance with these new requirements and to verify that the necessary DTS is applied to their shipments before the deadline.
The Tax Authority emphasised that failure to meet these requirements after June 1, 2025, will result in the rejection of imports.
