Muscat – In its statement, the Council condemned these actions as blatant violations of international law and the resolutions of international legitimacy. Such actions, the Council noted, represent a grave threat to regional security, stability, and global peace.
The Shura Council expressed deep concern over the continued usurpation of Palestinian territories, pointing out the tragic plight of the Palestinian people who have long suffered displacement, loss of their rights, destruction of homes, and the martyrdom of countless individuals, including children and families. The Council criticized the global community for failing to address this injustice, likening the situation to a ‘law of the jungle’ where international laws are ignored without consequence.
The statement reads as follows: “The Omani Shura Council expresses its categorical rejection and strong condemnation of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people secretly, and seize what remains of their lands, in flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, which constitutes a serious threat to security and stability in the region and world peace… It is shameful that some talk about usurping what remains of Palestine, forgetting the tragedy of the people of Khorram, who lost their most basic rights, who were displaced from their land, whose homes were destroyed, and whose children, families and children were martyred, as if the world was now proceeding according to the law of the jungle, where international laws are violated without deterrence, blinding the eyes to the suffering of a people facing the ugliest forms of injustice and persecution.
The Omani Shura Council stresses the need for the international community, parliamentary bodies and human rights organizations to bear their moral and legal responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people, and to reject any measures aimed at changing reality, demographic and geographical development of the Palestinian territories, and ensuring the protection of the rights of the Palestinians to establish their independent state on their land with Jerusalem as its capital.”
