Muscat – This move is part of Mwasalat’s ongoing efforts to evaluate performance of the electric bus and ensure it meets operational standards for city transit.
The electric bus, which was launched during Khareef 2024, aligns with Oman’s national goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. With a capacity of 28 passengers, the bus is designed to travel at speeds between 70 and 130 kilometers per hour, making it well-suited for urban environments.
Mwasalat’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its proactive steps to reduce its carbon footprint. The company is focused on turning its sustainability plans into actionable initiatives on the ground, supporting the broader transition to cleaner, greener transport solutions.
The testing of the MAN E-Bus is in line with discussions at the 2024 World Transport and Public Transport Union Conference, where modern technologies, sustainability, and green innovations, including electric buses, were highlighted by international transportation experts.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology is also working on initiatives to enhance public transportation across the country, including expanding services to other governorates.
