Muscat – Partnering with The Arabian Stories (TAS) as the official online media partner, ‘Duqm Now’ will bring together key industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers to explore fresh opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
Experts will discuss what exactly a $2 trillion renewable energy investment means and how SMEs can lead the charge.
Duqm, rapidly emerging as Oman’s hub for industrial innovation, is positioning itself at the forefront of the country’s clean energy transformation, from green hydrogen projects to carbon-neutral steel production. ‘Duqm Now’ will provide a unique platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to tap into the burgeoning clean energy market, supported by significant investments in renewable energy technologies and infrastructure.
Sponsored by Duqm Quarries and the Development Bank, and supported by Salam Air, Crowne Plaza Hotel Duqm, Oman Economic Review, and Oman FM, the initiative offers more than just networking. It will provide actionable insights and foster connections that can turn ambitious ideas into business opportunities.
The event aligns with Oman’s goal of sourcing 30 percent of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030, and will explore how businesses, large and small, can capitalise on this transformative sector.
The session will feature a panel of industry leaders, including Essam Al Sheibany, Vice President of Sustainability at ASYAD Group, Dr. Khalil Al Hanashi, Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Energy & Minerals, and Musab Al Farsi, CEO of Nafath Renewable Energy.
It is pertinent to note that global investments in clean energy have surged, with the International Energy Agency reporting that over US$2 trillion was allocated to clean energy technologies in 2024 alone. SEZAD’s Integrated Energy Valley offers businesses the ideal infrastructure and strategic location to participate in the global clean energy shift.
According to Eng. Ahmed Akaak, CEO of SEZAD, ‘Duqm Now’ is designed to be a transformative platform for growth, providing attendees with the knowledge and insights needed to drive business expansion. Each session, he points out, is crafted to build on the last, offering attendees a cohesive learning experience.
The forum is not just about the sessions; it also offers opportunities for networking, connecting with industry experts, and exploring potential partnerships. A podcast series will also extend the forum’s key takeaways to a wider audience, solidifying Duqm’s role as a leading business hub for innovation and investment.
Aligning with Oman Vision 2040, the series will cover topics including education-industry collaboration, circular economy practices, and advancements in petrochemicals. ‘Duqm Now’ reflects SEZAD’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, providing a platform for entrepreneurs and investors to explore the real opportunities in Duqm.
The ‘Duqm Now’ forum is free of charge and open to all, with sessions conducted in Arabic. To register, participants can email their name and phone number to: duqm.now@duqm.gov.om.
