MUSCAT : The joint statement highlights the growing bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar, marking the successful state visit of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, to Oman.

The communique states: “Based on the strong historical ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar and the close fraternal relations between His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, and his brother His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, and in order to enhance the mutual bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, His Majesty the Sultan received his brother His Highness, who arrived in the Sultanate of Oman on a “state” visit on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 28 and 29, 2025.”

The statement, issued after extensive discussions between His Majesty the Sultan and His Highness Sheikh Tamim, emphasized the importance of expanding economic and investment partnerships between the two countries. Both leaders agreed on the need to explore new opportunities in both the public and private sectors, aiming to meet the aspirations of their peoples.

During the visit, several memoranda of understanding and executive programs were signed, focusing on areas of mutual interest. Both sides praised the success of the Omani-Qatari Joint Committee, recognizing its vital role in strengthening bilateral cooperation and implementing joint projects.

The leaders also discussed the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), underscoring the achievements of joint Gulf action and the continued pursuit of integration and cooperation to benefit their peoples.

Addressing regional and international issues, the two sides reiterated their commitment to peaceful resolutions of conflicts, particularly stressing the importance of dialogue and international cooperation to enhance regional and global security. They expressed hope for full implementation of agreements concerning detainees and prisoners in Gaza, supporting efforts for a comprehensive peace agreement in the region. Additionally, both parties emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to provide humanitarian aid and rebuild Gaza.

Discussions also focused on the importance of Syria’s sovereignty, with both leaders supporting efforts for a comprehensive and inclusive transitional process in Syria, vital for regional stability. They welcomed steps taken to protect civilians and preserve state institutions in Syria.

At the conclusion of the visit, His Highness Sheikh Tamim expressed gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him and his delegation. His Majesty Sultan Haitham wished continued prosperity and success to the State of Qatar and its people.
