Oman as guest of honor at the 56th Cairo International Book Fair, highlights importance of culture and global understanding

Oman presented a unified pavilion that showcases its rich cultural heritage and modern achievements at the 56th Cairo International Book Fair.

CAIRO: Represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, as well as civil society institutions, publishing houses, and libraries, Oman’s participation underscores its dedication to fostering cultural exchange and promoting the values of peace and understanding.

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Harrasi, Minister of Information, emphasized the significance of cultural forums and book fairs in enhancing global understanding, supporting writers and publishing houses, and encouraging a culture of reading and knowledge. Speaking at the opening ceremony, His Excellency highlighted Oman’s contributions to the event through publications, seminars, dialogue sessions, and artistic performances that celebrate the nation’s literary and cultural legacy.

“The participation of the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of honor of the exhibition will enhance cultural and cognitive communication by introducing the Omani literary and cultural heritage through publications, seminars, dialogue sessions, artistic and musical performances, and performances that highlight the modern progress witnessed by the Sultanate of Oman under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan in various aspects of life,” stated His Excellency.

He further lauded the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and the Egyptian General Book Authority for organizing one of the Arab world’s most prestigious book fairs, noting its role as a vital platform for readers, researchers, and writers. The fair, which brings together a diverse range of publications and activities, serves as a beacon for knowledge and cultural exchange in the region.

His Excellency also affirmed that Oman’s selection as the guest of honor reflects the enduring ties and deep-rooted relations between Oman and Egypt, particularly in cultural and historical spheres.

The Omani pavilion includes an exhibition of rare Omani manuscripts, an exhibition of fine arts, artistic, musical and folk performances, and a screening of short promotional and tourist films about the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to a special corner for VR technology, in addition to cultural events that vary between lectures, seminars, workshops and poetry evenings.
