Muscat: The event highlighted the crucial role of ambulance systems and the need to strengthen coordination between emergency departments and ambulance services for better stroke outcomes.

Organized by the Oman Stroke Association in collaboration with the General Directorate of Health Services in Musandam and supported by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the two-day conference brought together stroke specialists, doctors, and medical assistants from Oman and abroad.

The conference called for intensified regional cooperation in stroke-related research, focusing on the connection between strokes and heart health, along with advancements in precise diagnosis techniques. Discussions spanned cutting-edge treatment methods and the role of protocols in managing thrombotic and hemorrhagic strokes.
Dr. Amal bint Mohammed Al Hashimi, Senior Consultant in Neurology and President of the Oman Stroke Association, emphasized the conference’s role in presenting the latest technologies and developments in stroke care.
Highlights of the conference included in-depth seminars on cerebral sinus occlusion, cerebral arteriovenous malformations, and their treatment mechanisms. Lectures also delved into the cardiovascular impacts of strokes and critical heart conditions that can arise during such events.
Dr. Saad Al-Faqi, Head of the Emergency Department at Khasab Hospital, lauded the conference for advancing medical expertise and promoting the exchange of knowledge.
The conference’s closing ceremony was presided over by His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Saif bin Mohammed Al Ghaithi, Wali of Bukha, underscoring its significance as a cornerstone event for stroke care and innovation in Oman.
