Muscat – The new framework is designed to enhance the management and utilisation of data as a national asset, reinforcing its role in supporting effective decision-making within government entities.
The framework outlines three essential components:
- National Data Governance and Management Policies: This document establishes the necessary requirements for effective data governance and management. It aims to ensure unified practices across government units, covering 13 key areas of data governance. Compliance with these policies is mandatory for all administrative units.
- Data Governance and Management Office Establishment Guidelines: These guidelines assist government entities in creating dedicated divisions for data governance and management. They detail the necessary tasks, competencies, services, processes, organizational structures, and roles required to effectively manage data at the institutional level.
- National Data Governance and Management Compliance Assessment Model: This document provides a clear methodology for assessing the compliance levels of government entities with the national data governance policies. It includes evaluation criteria and implementation priorities to ensure entities adhere to the framework’s standards.
