Oman’s natural gas output soars by 4.8% as industrial projects drive demand

Oman witnessed a significant uptick in natural gas production and imports, reaching approximately 51.83 billion cubic meters by the end of November 2024

Muscat: This marks a 4.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023, which recorded 49.44 billion cubic meters, according to statistics from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

Industrial projects emerged as the leading consumers of natural gas, accounting for 51.1% of total usage. Their consumption reached 26.52 billion cubic meters by the end of November. Other major sectors contributing to gas usage included oil fields, with 11.01 billion cubic meters, and power generation stations, which consumed 14.07 billion cubic meters. Industrial areas accounted for a smaller share, with 229.3 million cubic meters.

In terms of production types, non-associated gas, including imports, contributed 41.25 billion cubic meters, while associated gas production stood at 10.58 billion cubic meters.
