MUSCAT: The year 2025 is off to a better start for stargazers as Quadrantids — a natural phenomenon will be lighting up the skies in Oman from January 3 to 4, offering a breathtaking display of shooting stars.
The Quadrantids, one of the most dazzling annual meteor showers, will be visible on Friday night, with up to 110 meteors per hour under ideal conditions.
These meteors, known for their bright and fast trails, are created as Earth passes through debris from asteroid 2003 EH1.

The Quadrantids — a “small” asteroid, with a diameter measuring only about two miles, was discovered in March 2003. Quadrantid meteors were first seen in 1825, according to NASA. Stargazers hoping to catch a glimpse of the show should wrap up warm and head out into a dark area away from streetlights.
