MUSCAT: Oman’s Medical City for Military and Security Services has performed surgery to remove a kidney tumour using a fifth-generation da Vinci robotic surgical system, preserving healthy tissue during the procedure, the Oman News Agency reported.
The operation involved a partial nephrectomy, in which surgeons remove the affected portion of the kidney while retaining healthy tissue.
The medical city said the procedure formed part of its efforts to expand healthcare services and adopt advanced medical technologies in line with Oman Vision 2040.

The da Vinci system combines precision surgical instruments with high-definition, three-dimensional imaging and technology that allows surgeons to control instrument movements accurately.
Those capabilities can help reduce the extent of surgical intervention and blood loss and support recovery, the report said.
