Oman allocates RO 52 million in treasury bills this week

The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has allocated a total of RO 52 million in government treasury bills this week.

MUSCAT : The CBO revealed the breakdown of the treasury bills for various maturity periods. The 28-day bills were allocated at RO 12.8 million, with an average price of RO 99.680 riyals per RO 100. The discount rate for these bills stood at 4.16939 percent, offering an average return of 4.18277 percent.

For the 91-day maturity period, the total value amounted to RO 18.2 million, with the average acceptable price recorded at RO 98.918 riyals per RO 100. The discount rate for these bills reached 4.33936 percent, with an average return of 4.38683 percent.

Meanwhile, the 182-day bills amounted to RO 21 million, with an average price of RO 97.780 riyals per RO 100. The discount rate for these bills was 4.45220 percent, with an average return of 4.55332 percent.

The statement further emphasized the repo rate on these treasury bills is set at 5 percent, while the discount rate with the Central Bank on treasury bill facilities is 5.50 percent.

Treasury bills are short-term, secured financial instruments issued by the Ministry of Finance, managed by the Central Bank of Oman. They provide a quick liquidity option, allowing for easy discounting through the Central Bank, as well as repurchase transactions in the interbank market.
