MUSCAT : Chaired by His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the meeting highlighted strategic plans to bolster Oman’s tourism appeal and enhance port operations.
Specialists from the Ministry underscored the government’s vision to develop Sultan Qaboos Port as a premier tourist destination capable of accommodating giant cruise ships. The port’s nine berths, spanning 1,750 meters, and facilities like passenger terminals, cargo handling services, and marine support were noted as pivotal in meeting this goal. In 2023 alone, the port welcomed approximately 431,000 tourists and 110 cruise ships, showcasing its potential as a key gateway for global travelers.
The Council also reviewed broader logistics and shipping services, including facilities for bulk, liquid, and general cargo, which have been integral to the port’s operations since 2018.
