Muscat – This settlement marks another step in the department’s ongoing efforts to safeguard consumer rights across the region.
The issue arose when a consumer contracted the establishment to manufacture and install doors and windows for a house under construction. After the installation, the consumer noticed water leaking through the windows. Despite notifying the company about the problem, the issue remained unresolved as the establishment delayed the necessary repairs.
In response, the consumer filed a formal complaint with the CPA, prompting an immediate investigation. The department promptly undertook the necessary measures, leading to a settlement under which the contract was terminated, and the establishment agreed to refund the amount of RO 1,150, which represented the value of the defective windows.
The CPA reiterates its call for suppliers to comply with consumer protection laws and fulfil their obligations. Adhering to these regulations ensure the rights of consumers are respected and enhance trust in the goods and services provided, it stated.
