Muscat – The three-month programme targets 25 participants working in risk management, emergencies, and business continuity, specifically those in director or department head positions in public sector institutions.

The programme is implemented in collaboration with the National Risk Register of the General Secretariat of the National Security Council and the Emergency Planning College of the Cabinet Office in the United Kingdom. This initiative is part of Oman’s broader efforts to strengthen its national resilience and prepare for future risks and crises.

Dr Fathiya Al Rashdi, Vice President for Programme Affairs at the Royal Academy of Management, emphasised the strategic importance of the programme in enhancing national administrative capabilities. She highlighted that the programme is designed to empower public sector leaders to develop adaptive executive skills necessary for managing risks and emergencies, as well as to formulate flexible policies ensuring business continuity.

She added that the main objective of the programme is to ensure sustainability of vital sectors in Oman by building advanced skills in emergency planning and risk management, enabling high readiness to deal with unexpected crises and challenges.

The programme also seeks to create a community of qualified Omani leaders who will ensure business continuity and contribute to institutional excellence, supporting sustainable development in the Sultanate.
It is structured into three main units: corporate risk management, crisis management and emergency planning, and business continuity in the public sector. Participants will learn how to identify, assess, and analyse risks, develop strategies to address them, and manage crises effectively. In addition, the programme will focus on enhancing communication strategies and internal/external skills necessary to maintain operations during crises.

The training format includes intensive learning sessions, interactive workshops, practical training, and field visits, with a focus on tackling real-world challenges and drawing from both local and international experiences.

By the end of the programme, participants are expected to enhance their leadership skills, enabling them to manage change effectively and foster cooperation across sectors. The programme aims to create a knowledge-sharing community that promotes resilience, risk management, and the exchange of best practices, contributing to the overall preparedness and sustainability of Oman’s public sector.
