MUSCAT : The meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Mamari, Oman’s Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, and H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al Maamoun Al Qasimi Al Hassani, Minister of State and Dean of the Great Mosque of Algiers, leading the Algerian delegation.

The discussions centred on exchanging experiences and best practices aimed at enhancing the role of mosques within society. Both sides agreed on the need to emphasise the comprehensive role of mosques, viewing them not just as places of worship but as educational and cultural centres that play a vital role in shaping national identity and strengthening social ties.

A key highlight of the talks was the remote Quran teaching system implemented in Oman, which has been successful in reaching broad segments of society. The Algerian side expressed keen interest in adopting this model, considering it a valuable tool for promoting religious education and making it more accessible to the public.

Other topics of discussion included the Hajj and Zakat systems, as well as the management of mosques and endowments. The Omani side shared its strategic visions for managing these institutions, ensuring their sustainability, and maximizing their impact in serving local communities. Both delegations emphasized the importance of investing in these religious institutions to spread humanitarian values and promote social cohesion.

In his remarks, H.E. Dr. Mamari noted that the session marked a significant step toward enhancing the fraternal relations between the two countries. He also highlighted the shared commitment to developing religious affairs management systems that are in line with modern technologies and practices.
This dialogue is part of a broader effort to deepen the cooperation between Oman and Algeria, particularly in areas that foster social cohesion, education, and the spread of ethical and religious principles.
