MUSCAT : Muscat Municipality addressed a citizen’s concerns this week regarding the approval process for bicycle and electric scooter rentals in the city. The municipality clarified that, following standard competitive protocols, it had issued public tenders for the service, awarding contracts to two companies that met eligibility requirements.
While plans to expand the service were underway, the municipality encountered several obstacles. Key among these challenges were the absence of designated paths for scooters and bikes, along with numerous public complaints about disturbances to the peace at popular destinations like beaches.
In response to feedback, the municipality held discussions with concerned citizens, proposing an alternative site for the rental service at Manouma Beach. However, the suggestion met with resistance, as the citizen expressed dissatisfaction with the proposed location.
