MUSCAT: As many as 290 stranded Sri Lankan passengers were repatriated from Oman on Sunday, the embassy in Muscat said.
This is the first repatriation flight from Oman to Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan Airlines took short term visitors, pregnant women, students, female domestic workers, those who’d lost their jobs, and people who needed to travel due to medical and personal emergencies. All passengers had registered with the embassy.

According to the statement from the embassy, all returnees are at the quarantine centres allocated by the government authorities.
“The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Muscat wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health as well as the immigration, aviation and Muscat International Airport authorities of the Sultanate of Oman for their kind support and cooperation in facilitating the smooth repatriation process both ways,” the embassy said in a statement.
