Oman’s Khareef season sees over a million visitors by the end of August 2024

Muscat: The Dhofar Khareef season attracted over 106,000 visitors by the end of August 2024—a 9% jump from last year.

According to preliminary statistics from the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the surge in visitor numbers is largely fueled by Omani travellers, whose ranks swelled by 8.7%, reaching 713,105. Visitors from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries rose to 171,762, up from 156,953 last season. Meanwhile, tourists from other nationalities also joined the festivities, totalling 121,767 compared to 111,055 in 2023.

In total, 786,107 visitors made their way to Dhofar via land ports, while 220,528 arrived by air—a 5.2% increase over last year’s air travel figures. Notably, August alone accounted for 59% of the total visitors this year,
