MUSCAT: The Oman Football Association has appointed Omani veteran Rasheed Jaber, as the head coach of the national team, after the unexpected dismissal of Czech coach Jaroslav Silhavy.
Jaber will take over the Red Warriors who will play their crucial games in the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Kuwait and Jordan.
Jaber has guided several teams to many memorable wins as a coach and has been one of the most decorated coaches in the country. In 2022, Jaber added a glorious chapter to the Oman football history as he led Seeb Club to AFC Cup title in Kuala Lumpur.

Prior to Seeb’s stint, Jaber had coached Dhofar, Suwaiq and Muscat clubs in Oman. He has been at the helm of the national senior team twice, first in 1995 and then in 2002. A former Oman international, Jaber was also the U19 national team coach from 2014-17.
