MUSCAT: The Oman Football Association (OFA) has unexpectedly dismissed Jaroslav Silhavy from his role as the head coach of the national team after just seven months in charge.
The decision to terminate the services of Silhavy comes following Oman’s disappointing performance in the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Iraq and South Korea earlier this month. “The decision to terminate the services was agreed mutually between OFA and the coach,” a statement from OFA said.
According to sources, popular Omani coach Rashid Jaber is expected to take over the national team for the remaining games in the Group.

The national team is scheduled to face Kuwait and Jordan next month.
