RO 7.8 billion in assets spark surge in Islamic banking

By the end of June 2024, Oman's Islamic banks and windows had combined total assets of approximately RO 7.8 billion.

Muscat: The total assets of Islamic banks and windows surged to approximately RO 7.8 billion, marking an 18.1 per cent increase from the previous year. This boost now accounts for 11.4 per cent of the Sultanate’s total banking sector assets, according to data from the Central Bank of Oman.

The sector’s financing balance also saw a notable rise, climbing by 10.4 per cent to hit around RO 6.4 billion. Meanwhile, deposits within Islamic banks and windows grew by 14.7 per cent, reaching RO 6 billion.
