MUSCAT: Oman has welcomed the decision by Saudi Arabia to allow a limited number of pilgrims to perform the Haj rituals this year, which include only Saudis and expatriate residents from various nationalities.

The Sultanate has therefore decided to skip the participation.

“The decision has been taken into account to safeguard the pilgrims from the Covid-19 pandemic,” Oman’s Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs (MERA) said on Tuesday.

The Ministry confirmed that there will be no obligations for those enrolled in the electronic system for the Haj season for the year 1441 AH, including the inability to arrange their travel to perform Hajj rituals for this season, indicating that the mechanisms for recording the next season will be announced later.
