Muscat – The municipality has issued a statement to highlight the menace, which can pose a serious threat to the environment and public health.
“Rodent infestations can significantly impact the environment and public health, threatening the urban character of our city. Together, we can tackle this issue by reducing their spread and eliminating their breeding grounds,” stated the municipality, presenting steps to be undertaken by households as preventive measures.
Here’s how everyone can do their bit for the cause:
• Store grains and feed in airtight metal containers.
• Dispose household garbage daily.
• Seal all openings in the kitchen.
• Ensure that doors and windows are securely closed.
• Di bot leaving any uncovered food in the kitchen.
• Place waste in tightly sealed containers.
• Check for signs of rodent presence, such as gnaw marks on wood and droppings.
• Regularly test with traps in key areas inside the home to monitor and control rodent activity.
• Conduct health inspections of all facilities and locations to ensure proper hygiene and avoid improper practices.
• Continuously trim the weeds in the garden to eliminate potential nesting sites.
“We’re also counting on community awareness to help in their eradication. Together, let’s protect our city and ensure a cleaner, healthier future for everyone!” is the call from the municipality
