MUSCAT: The low-pressure area that was formed over south west Arabian sea near Socotra Island has turned into a depression and is 200km away from the Oman coast, the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Center has informed on Thursday.
It is expected to move towards the Dhofar coast in the next 48 hours.
“The depressed will lead to rains and the intense thunderstorm (50 – 90 mm) lead to flowing wadis and low visibility. Moderate to the rough sea is expected along with the coastal areas of Dhofar Governorate with a maximum wave height of 2.5 meters over the next 24 hours,” the statement from Oman Meteorology said.
