MUSCAT : Building on its track record of achievements and successes, Bank Muscat, the leading financial service provider in the Sultanate of Oman, continues to support Omani youth and sports and community team development. Recently, the Bank participated in the celebration of the Batha Al Oud Team lighting project opening in Suwaiq, North Batinah Governorate, as part of the Green Sports programme, which aims to support local sports teams.
The celebration was held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Derei Al Jabri, member of the Shura Council and Representative of the Willayat of Sohar. The event was attended by Said bin Ahmed Al Salmi, Regional Manager of Meethaq Branches, Khalid bin Khamis Al Jabri, Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Batha Al Oud Team, along with other invitees and team members
During the ceremony, Said bin Ahmed Al Salmi remarked: “We are delighted with the inauguration of the Batha Al Oud Team play yard lighting project, which is highly significant for the team members. The play yard is now equipped to host social, sports, and cultural events, benefiting both youth and the community at large. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the team members for this success and wish them the very best.”

Said Al Salmi added: “Bank Muscat aims to support Omani national teams by establishing projects in specific areas to enhance the country’s sports infrastructure and expand green spaces. It is a source of pride that the Green Sports programme has continued to thrive since its inception in 2012, as evidenced by the keen competition among local teams to participate.”
On this occasion, Khalid Bin Khamis Al Jabri, Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Batha Al Oud Team, expressed his gratitude to Bank Muscat for this unique initiative. He highlighted that the initiative supports youth talents and provides sports teams with well-equipped playgrounds, enabling them to develop their skills and showcase their potential.
The Green Sports programme is one of Bank Muscat’s key sustainable social responsibility initiatives. It aims to promote entrepreneurship, partnership, and community empowerment by supporting talented Omani youth in sports and culture. The programme also enhances the role of cultural sports teams in supporting national sports by improving sports stadium infrastructure across the Sultanate. To date, the programme has supported 183 teams and benefited over 50,000 team members in various governorates of the Sultanate.
