MUSCAT: The Government Communication Centre (GC) on Wednesday denied a rumour circulated on social media regarding reopening of mosques for Friday prayers in the Sultanate.
“A news has been doing the rounds on social media regarding reopening of mosques for Friday prayers in the country. We would like to inform that the news belongs to an Arab country and it is not in Oman,” the statement said.
“As per the decision by the Supreme Committee, mosques will remain closed until further notice and will only be opened for Azzan (call for prayer),” the statement added.
