MUSCAT: The Government Communication Centre dispelled a rumour on Wednesday that more than 5,000 coronavirus cases were recorded in the country within 24 hours.
In a statement issued, the Centre said there are only 33 confirmed cases as of March 18, 2020 and warned the public of strict action against spreading these rumours.
“There is no truth to what is being circulated that more than 5,000 were recorded with coronavirus cases in 24 hours. The number of confirmed cases as of March 18, 2020 is 33,” the statement said.
