Muscat: Knowledge Oman has today, Sunday 8th of March, announced the promotion and recognition of 7 women aligning with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s commitment to empower women to serve the community and the nation. The recognition acknowledges and coincides with the global International Women’s Day celebration towards the social, economic, cultural and political achievements and contributions of women around the world. Key members, both local and expat women living in Oman, have been put at the forefront of its different structures, to support the growth, expansion and development of the platform for the benefit of the society.
“We at Knowledge Oman are proud to recognize and empower all the female members due to their valuable contributions towards the society. Building Oman and supporting His Majesty Sultan Haitham in furthering the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos is our goal, and we are pleased to promote 7 women to hold key leadership roles that help the platform further engage with the society” said Khalfan Al Mahrazy, Knowledge Oman President.
A notable Public Speaker passionate about development, Nabila Al Barwani, will lead the KO Talks initiative set to launch this year. The successful Knowledge Oman Seminars will be driven by recognized Most Valuable Member, Israa Al Ajmi, who has proven to run projects with great effectiveness. Lamiyah Al Abri, with experience in Human Resource and networking with relief organizations, will lead in liaising various people and organizations to join Knowledge Oman in “Giving-Back.” Passionate about bringing change through innovation, Shakera Wadee will continue to coordinate the media and branding of the organization. Academic author and Professor, Dr. Mythilli Kolluru will contribute towards creating content across all of the platforms. Having a track record of successfully supporting organizations locally and abroad, Annika Roosa-Saarma will support the President in Adminstrative functions. Head of Well-being and Student Service at Al Sahwa Schools, Balqees Al Hassani, supports the President with operational of the platform as its Vice President and represents the organisation through various platforms locally and abroad through sharing knowledge and developing wellbeing.

Since its inception in 2008, Knowledge Oman has recognized and highlighted the contributions of women in Oman by giving them important roles through which they may contribute towards the organization and society. The multi-diverse organization has had women from various cultural backgrounds serve as key members. The second President of Knowledge Oman, Rym Aoudia of Algerian nationality, headed the organization successfully from 2014-2016 after leading many platforms within the organisation.
His Majesty Sultan Qaboos encouraged women to further their studies, increased the number of women serving in various sectors and parliament and set a constitution which recognized men and women as being granted equal rights and protection. His Majesty Sultan Haitham has committed to further this by empowering women to move Oman forward.
