MUSCAT: The Higher College of Technology (HCT) in Oman said in a statement that it took immediate steps with specialists at the Ministry of Health to quarantine some of the students who were believed to be in contact with one of the suspected coronavirus patient.

“It is out of concern for the safety of students, we have coordinated immediately with specialists in the Ministry of Health to take what is necessary towards communicating with students who were believed to be in contact with one of the infected cases and to provide them with the necessary health care,” the statement said.

According to HCT, these students are currently under home quarantined. Regarding the academic status of the students, the college said it will take necessary steps to ensure that they are not affected. “We are more concerned about their health. We call on everyone not to get carried away by rumours and to follow developments and official statements only though the college,” the statement added.
