MUSCAT: Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health has ruled out the possibility of closing down educational institutions due to coronavirus outbreak.
Speaking to the media on Monday, the Minister said: There is no need to close schools at present. We will coordinate with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education on this and take measures when necessary.”
According to the minister the total number of people quarantined in Oman reached 2,367 so far.

Highlights from the Minister’s press conference:
- Two coronavirus patients have recovered.
- People who have travelled from Japan and Singapore do not need quarantine. The quarantine regulations for people travelling from these two countries have been removed.
- We are currently at stage three of the coronavirus in Oman. Until now, we have not recorded any new cases.
- 2,367 people have been quarantined so far of which 49 are institutional quarantine.
- There is no need to close schools at present. We will coordinate with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education on this and take measures when necessary.
