MUSCAT : In recognition of World Environment Day, Alizz Islamic Bank recently hosted Sayyida Dr. Jihad Al Busaidi at the Alizz Islamic Bank Head Office to discuss her research on ‘Air Pollution & Its Effect on Climate Change’. The forum was attended by Alizz Islamic Bank leadership team, representatives from the Environment Authority, the Environment Society of Oman (ESO), students from various colleges and universities and members of the public.

Alizz Islamic Bank underlines the importance of raising awareness amongst the public and professionals on climate issues and inspiring collective action that is instrumental to support Oman in its endeavor to achieve net-zero by 2050 and play its global part in helping realize the UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate change and sustainability. The Bank believes that all sectors should join hands and spread awareness of the environment.

World Environment Day puts a global spotlight on the pressing environmental challenges of our times. This United Nations international day has become the largest global platform for environmental outreach, with millions of people from across the world engaging to protect the planet. People from more than 150 countries participate in this day, which celebrates environmental action and the power of governments, businesses and individuals to create a more sustainable world. The event has been led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) since its inception in 1973. In 2024, World Environment Day is being hosted by Saudi Arabia, with a focus on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience.
