Muscat: Indian Embassy in Oman has warned its citizens to stay cautious as “some miscreants” are misusing the consulate’s fax number to extort money from people.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, embassy said spurious calls are being made to Indian nationals by masking the consulate’s fax number 24692791.
“It has come to the notice of Embassy, that some miscreants are making spurious calls to Indian nationals by masking Indian Embassy’s fax no. 24692791 for extorting money. Please note, Embassy never makes such requests,” the Indian Embassy in Muscat said.

The embassy has requested the Omani authorities to investigate and take necessary action against the culprits.“Indian community is requested to be cautious and inform the Embassy on 24684500 in case such calls are received,” the statement added.
