Muscat – Delivering a statement at the Shura Council’s 7th regular session of its first annual session for the tenth term, he called for an urgent investigation into the students’ deaths to determine the circumstances and provide insights related to the results of the investigation, and to draw lessons to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
His Excellency emphasized that despite alerts received from the centre for National Multi Hazard Early Warning System, there was a lack of appropriate response from relevant authorities to address the unfolding disaster. He urged all concerned parties to collaborate diligently during such emergencies to ensure the safety of students and citizens.

He called for the development of recommendations and proposals within a comprehensive policy framework that includes the activation of distance education and compensation for losses.
He also recommended the following steps to address the situation:
- Conducting a thorough investigation into the causes of the tragedy and implementing measures to prevent its recurrence.
- Granting the National Center for Emergency Management the authority to suspend studies in governorates expected to be affected by climate events.
- Activating distance learning platforms.
- Compensating for lost school days due to weather conditions and educational losses.
- Ensuring the establishment of schools in safe locations away from valley streams and water reefs.
