Muscat: Oman’s football legend Ali Al Habsi has been named 2022 FIFA World Cup ambassador on Tuesday.
Football’s biggest showpiece event will be held in Qatar for the first time.
Speaking to The Arabian Stories from Doha, Al Habsi said he is honoured to take up the responsibility to spread the campaign about the tournament. “I am pleased and happy to represent my country Oman and all Arab athletes at this huge event in Doha.”

The Omani skipper who is currently with his national side preparing for the Gulf Cup tournament in Doha added that it’s time for the Arab athletes to stand united to ensure the 2022 World Cup becomes a success. “It’s indeed the biggest tournament and as an Omani it’s a proud moment for us too,” he added.
