Muscat: Sale season is around the corner and many of you might be eagerly awaiting the big day. However, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) has warned against making impulsive purchases just to grab a hot sale and to double check the prices before making the payment.

In a statement issued online, PACP urged customers to file complaints it they spot any price manipulation on discount offers.

PACP have already found some shops selling goods with the original price but with the discounted offer tag.

“We confirm that the Commission follows up complaints on such offers and issues the necessary direction to violating establishments. Customers are welcome to send more details about the violation by sending the name of the shop and complainant details,” the statement said.

According to the Royal Decree No. 66/2014 and its executive regulation issued by Decree No. 77/2017 in Article (36) of the Law states that shops need to obtain prior approval with the concerned authority to ensure all the regulations and formalities are followed before running the sale campaign.
