Muscat: According to recent statistics, the total domestic production and import of natural gas in Oman amounted to 4 billion 190 million 300 thousand cubic meters until the end of January 2024. This marks a notable drop from the 4 billion 538 million 200 thousand cubic meters recorded during the corresponding period in 2023.
The data further revealed that industrial projects constituted the largest share of natural gas usage in the Sultanate, accounting for 66.3% of consumption with a volume of two billion 777 million 600 thousand cubic meters by the end of January.
Breaking down the usage, natural gas consumption in oil fields reached 835 million 400 thousand cubic meters, while power generation stations utilized 555 million 500 thousand cubic meters. Additionally, industrial areas utilized 21 million 800 thousand cubic meters of natural gas during the same period.

Of significance is the distinction between non-associated and associated natural gas production. Non-associated production, which includes imports, stood at 3 billion 468 million 800 cubic meters, whereas associated production amounted to 721 million 500 thousand cubic meters.
