CHINA: Themed “Omani-Chinese relations for thousands of years and forever,” the event was inaugurated at the Muscat Hall, marking a momentous occasion that heralds deep-rooted historical connections and fosters progressive bilateral ties.
The forum commenced with a speech by His Excellency Nasser bin Mohammed Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Oman to China, underscoring the profound historical ties between both nations and expressing hopes for continued growth and mutual prosperity under the sagacious leadership of both countries.
Former Palestinian Ambassador Mustafa Al-Safarini chaired the symposium, highlighting the enduring cultural exchange between Oman and China, tracing back over two millennia through the Maritime Silk Road. The collaborative vision of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Xi Jinping was lauded for enriching both societies and contributing to global peace and development.
Dr. Mariam bint Saeed Al-Bartamaniyah from Sultan Qaboos University elucidated on historical Omani-Chinese relations, spanning from ancient encounters to contemporary diplomatic ties. At the same time, Dr. Fuqi Ming from Peking University emphasized the Sultan Qaboos Chair’s role in teaching Arabic in China and cultural events fostering cross-cultural understanding.
The symposium culminated in recommendations spanning cultural, scientific, and trade dimensions, emphasizing the Omani frankincense route’s cultural significance and proposing collaborative projects and initiatives.
