Indian School Maabela commemorates 13th anniversary with blood donation camp

MUSCAT : “Blood donation is not just a social responsibility; it’s a gift of life, a celebration of humanity.”

The Blood Donation Camp was organized on 3 & 4 November 2023 by Indian School Al Maabela to commemorate School’s 13th Anniversary. The camp was conducted for two consecutive days, in association with Central Bousher Blood Bank, Muscat, Oman, to uphold the noble cause of voluntary blood donation and thereby promote a culture of altruism and responsibility among the students, faculty, parents and community members. This initiative was taken up to support local hospitals and to address the ongoing need for blood donations.

Inaugural Ceremony:

The Inaugural Ceremony of the Blood Donation Camp 2023 was characterized by an atmosphere of enthusiasm and purpose.The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest Dr.Zainab Al Balushi Deputy Director- General SQUH,Mr. Muthu Krishnan,Vice President- SMC, Mr. Vijay Velayudhan,Convener – SMC, Mr.Vikas Rao Naidu,Chairperson–HSE,Mr.Mohammed Rafiq,Chairperson-Building and Infrastructure,Mr.Syed Najeeb Rafiq, Deputy Chairperson- Transport and Principal, Mr.P.Prabakaran.

The ceremony commenced with official ribbon-cutting by the Chief Guest followed by the traditional lamp lighting. A solemn prayer song was sung invoking positive energy and blessings.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Zainab Al Balushi, Deputy Director-General for Clinical Affairs and Senior Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital was presented with a sapling, as a token of gratitude. In her address, the Chief Guest encouraged and motivated the participants and potential blood donors by emphasizing the importance of their contributions in saving lives.

The blood donation started at 9:00 a.m. after the Inauguration.

The school received an overwhelming response from the donors on both the days of the camp and 1112 registrations were recorded out of which 601 members reported to school for donation. 483 donors were found eligible and approved by MOH. The camp concluded with a phenomenal record in collecting 483 pints of blood . The entire team actively participated, ensuring the smooth conduct of the camp that culminated with the Valedictory Ceremony on 4 November 2023 at 2:00 p.m.

Valedictory Ceremony:

The Valedictory Ceremony of the Blood Donation Camp 2023 began with a prayer, creating a solemn and reflective atmosphere. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Khalid Mohammed Ahmed Al-Jabri, a Record Holder in blood donation, having donated blood for an impressive 230 times. He appreciated and encouraged the school’s efforts in organizing the camp for such a worthy cause in his address to the audience.

In recognition of the support and involvement of the Central Blood Bank in Bousher, the Indian School Al Maabela presented them with a memento. The personnel of the Blood Bank were also felicitated with certificates by Mr. Shamim Hussain, President of the School Management Committee, who expressed his appreciation and encouragement for the noble endeavor undertaken by the school.

The Valedictory Ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the school principal, Mr. P. Prabakaran. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health Team, the generous donors, dedicated organizers, and all the supporters who contributed to the success of the Blood Donation Camp 2023.

The two-day event served as a moment of reflection on the importance of blood donation and highlighted the collaborative efforts of the community in contributing to the noble cause of saving lives .
